What a building management system actually does

A BMS is not a CCTV recorder and it is not factory automation. It is the layer that lets HVAC, lighting, access, fire and metering report to one desk.

Facility managers often inherit a building where the chiller vendor, the CCTV vendor, the access-control vendor and the electrician each left a different login. A building management system is the attempt to make those systems report — and in many cases, act — as one building.

Typical scope for us: HVAC plant and air-side control, lighting management with occupancy and daylight, access control, CCTV as part of the same operations picture, fire detection as a monitored layer, and water / energy / BTU metering so someone can see where the money is going.

What a BMS is not

  • Not factory or process-plant automation — we do not program the production line
  • Not a consumer smart-home kit stretched across an office floor
  • Not a CCTV-only job with a new sticker on the recorder
  • Not a promise that every 15-year-old piece of plant will magically speak BACnet on day one

Where this pays back

The first savings are usually lighting and HVAC that stop running empty floors overnight. The second is a facilities team that is not walking the building to find which AHU is in fault. The third, on multi-tenant sites, is metering that can actually allocate cost.

We do this work for offices, campuses, hospitality and institutional buildings across South India from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. The useful start is a site walk or a drawing review — not a product brochure.
